About This Worksheet

This worksheet helps children notice the basic boundaries of a sentence. Learning to begin with a capital letter and finish with a full stop gives early writers a simple routine for checking their work.

How to Use It

Start by saying a simple sentence aloud. Ask the child what the sentence is about, then help them write it. Before moving on, check together: Does it start with a capital letter? Does it make sense? Does it finish with a full stop? Gradually encourage the child to complete the check independently.

Parent Tip

Use short sentences about familiar experiences, such as “I can run.” or “The cat is big.” Ask your child to read their sentence aloud and point to the capital letter and full stop.
