About This Worksheet
This Foundation maths worksheet develops early pattern awareness. Children identify and continue repeating patterns by noticing the part that repeats, rather than simply copying the next item.
I Can Checklist
- I can find the part that repeats.
- I can continue a repeating pattern.
- I can describe what comes next.
How to Use It
Ask children to say the pattern aloud before they continue it. Encourage them to identify the repeating unit, such as red-blue or circle-square-triangle, and explain why their next choice fits.
Parent Tip
Make patterns with everyday objects such as spoons, blocks or toys. Leave one item out and ask your child what should come next and how they know.
