About This Worksheet
This Foundation Science worksheet helps children notice and describe features they can observe on familiar animals. Children can look at body parts such as legs, wings, fins, fur, feathers, shells, beaks or tails and talk about how animals are different.
I Can Checklist
- I can name features of an animal.
- I can describe what I notice.
- I can compare features of different animals.
How to Use It
Before the worksheet, choose two familiar animals and ask children what they can see. Encourage complete descriptions such as “The bird has wings and feathers.” Use photographs, books or real observations, then complete the worksheet independently or with support.
Parent Tip
Use animals your child sees at home, in a park or in a book. Ask “What features do you notice?” and “How is this animal different from that one?” This builds observation and science vocabulary through everyday conversation.
