Practising Capitals and Full Stops

Capital letters and full stops help readers see where sentences begin and end. A capital letter is also used for names and other proper nouns.

Editing Routine

  1. Find the first word of each sentence.
  2. Check that it begins with a capital letter.
  3. Read to the end of the idea and check for a full stop.
  4. Look again for names that need capitals.

Read the corrected sentence aloud to check that it sounds complete.
