Counting Australian Coins

Australian coins have different values. When counting a group of coins, identify each value first and then combine the amounts.

Coin-Counting Strategy

  1. Sort or identify the coins by value.
  2. Start with the largest value.
  3. Add each remaining coin carefully.
  4. Check the total by counting again.

Use the cent or dollar labels as clues and remember that the number of coins does not tell you the total value.
