  • Full stops
  • Sentence boundaries
  • Editing

Checking Capitals and Full Stops

Capital letters and full stops show readers where sentences begin and end. They also make writing easier to read.

Editing Routine

  1. Find the beginning of each sentence.
  2. Check for a capital letter.
  3. Find the end of each complete idea.
  4. Check that the correct punctuation is there.

Read the sentence aloud after editing. If it sounds unfinished, check whether more words or punctuation are needed.
